With an establishment of more than 600 regular soldiers, the 6th Engineer Support Regiment is the largest of the engineer regiments. The Regiment comprises the 1st Topographical Survey Squadron (1 Topo Svy Sqn), the 17th Construction Squadron (17 Const Sqn), the 21st Construction Squadron (21 Const Sqn) and 20th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squadron (20 EOD Sqn).
The Regiment was established on 13 January 2003 for two key roles. Firstly, to command three previously independent sub-units, namely 1 Topo Svy Sqn, 17 Const Sqn and 21 Const Sqn; and a fourth sub-unit, the Army Explosive Hazards Centre (ExHC) now 20 EOD, raised on 17 January 2006.
The Regiment was also raised to provide the force engineer staff support to the Deployable Joint Force Headquarters.
The motto of 6th Engineer Support Regiment is ‘With Strength and Precision’.
