The role of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) is to ensure maximum operational availability of equipment.

The Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers is a technical corps tasked with the maintenance of the Army's modern hardware and equipment. 

RAEME personnel are represented in most Army units, with the representation varying in size from:

  • one or two tradespeople
  • small groups of 20 to 30 tradespeople
  • large maintenance units with over 150 personnel and an integrated military and civilian workforce.
