Hazard reduction burn

A prescribed hazard reduction burn will be conducted on Cowley Beach Training Area which may generate smoke over the period 28th to 29th August 2023.

In accordance with State Legislation, planned hazard reduction burns are conducted for a range of purposes, including:

  • Reducing the likelihood and severity of bushfires on the training area and surrounding areas.
  • Improving ecosystem health and resilience.  

A smoke haze may be evident for days after the burn.

The Australian Defence Force thanks the public for their patience and cooperation while this essential operation is being conducted.
