The Australian Army will be conducting an Open Day at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera, Brisbane from 1.00pm to 7.00 pm on Saturday 15th June 2024.
A range of activities will be conducted and include:
- Aviation:
- An Army helicopter will be landing in the mid-morning and taking off in the late afternoon
- A RAAF flyover of the base by a single multi engine aircraft will occur in the mid-afternoon
- Two parachute displays will occur in the afternoon
- All aviation activities are conducted within strict safety and operational guidelines
- The flying activity schedule is subject to change, including short notice cancellation, due to variables such as air traffic control, weather and other aviation considerations.
- Noise:
- A number of demonstrations will be conducted in the mid afternoon that will include the use of blank ammunition and pyrotechnics for a period of up to 30 mins
- The Australian Army Band will be playing up to five music sets during the course of the afternoon
- A fireworks display will be conducted for a period of 5 minutes between 6.15 and 6.30 pm.
- Traffic:
- The Open Day will attract thousands of people who are being encouraged to use public transport
- Member’s of the public will park in local areas adjacent to the base
- Minor traffic disruption, due to pedestrian and vehicular access to the base, is expected throughout the day in the vicinity of the Samford Road base access gate.
Safety, noise management and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of Defence activities.
Noise disturbances will be minimised where possible and the ADF thanks the public for their patience and cooperation.
