Australian Army personnel from Adelaide Universities Regiment will be rehearsing and conducting a military funeral ceremonial drill over 29 and 30 August in and around Hampstead Barracks, Greenacres, and Harrison Funerals, 63 Golden Grove Road, Ridgehaven, South Australia in support of a service funeral for a member of the Australian Army.
The community can expect loud noises, including firing of blank volleys (simultaneous firing) from rifles, over the below periods:
- Between 1:30pm – 3:00pm, Thursday 29 August and 9:30am – 11:00am, Friday 30 August at Hampstead Barracks.
- Between 1:30pm – 3:00pm, Friday 30 August at Ridgehaven.
This is a traditional method of paying respect to the sacrifice and service provided by our departed Australian Defence Force personnel during which no projectiles are fired from the weapons involved and the community should not be alarmed or concerned for their safety.
The Australian Army appreciates the support of the community and recognises the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
