Australian Defence Force (ADF) helicopters and personnel will conduct Special Operations aviation training across the greater Sydney region and Gosford in November 2024.
The training will be conducted during the day and night, and involves responses to simulated terrorist scenarios.
Members of the public may notice an increase in military helicopter movements and associated noise during this period. They should not be alarmed if they see or hear military helicopters flying low over urban areas.
Members of the public should also expect to see vehicles and military personnel carrying weapons and wearing tactical equipment/protective clothing.
No live ammunition will be used during the training.
All aircraft activities are conducted within strict safety and operational guidelines.
The flying activity schedule is subject to change, including short notice cancellation, due to variables such as air traffic control, weather and other aviation considerations.
Safety, noise management and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of Defence flying activities.
Noise disturbances will be minimised where possible and the ADF thanks the public for their patience and cooperation.
Members of the public can access further information regarding aircraft noise at https://www.defence.gov.au/aircraftnoise/, or by calling 1800 033 200.
