A message from the Chief of Army - Anzac Day 2025

25 April 2025

The Australian Army has a proud history serving our nation.

We have fought in wars across the globe to defend Australia’s interests and our fellow Australians.

110 years ago today, the first Anzacs landed on a battlefield far from home.

They went willingly, putting mission and mates before themselves.

Today, we remember them, and all who followed in their footsteps.

We reflect on what has been made possible by generations of sacrifice.

We give heartfelt thanks to the families of our fallen and for the commitment of our families today.

I am proud to serve in an Army that continues to live the values forged more than a century ago on the rugged beachhead at Gallipoli.

Service... Courage... Respect... Integrity... Excellence...

Anzac Day is a day for reflection, for commemoration, for remembrance and for sharing.

Thousands of stories of courage, mateship, endurance, compassion and dedication will be shared today by serving soldiers, our veterans and Australians wherever they are gathered today.

Today we fulfil our promise to remember them.

Lest we forget.
