Major General Ana Duncan, AM CSC

Major General Ana Duncan is an Australian Army officer, with over 30 years’ experience in leadership, management and national security. Major General Duncan has held senior command and leadership roles in the Department of Defence, the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and on operations.

Major General Duncan is currently Commander of the Australian Army’s Forces Command, based in Victoria Barracks Sydney. In this role, she oversees Army’s training and readiness of its people and teams for all military tasks, including high-end warfighting.

Most recently, Major General Duncan was the inaugural Commander of the Australian Defence Force’s Cyber Command, responsible for the extended design and development of military cyber power. From 2018-19 she was the lead operational strategist for the military coalition to defeat Daesch, while concurrently the Senior National Representative of Australian troops in Iraq and Kuwait. Major General Duncan was the Director General of Army Leadership from 2020-22, working to the Chief of Army to curate the Australian Army’s leadership acumen.

An avid gardener, bush walker and runner, Major General Duncan is married to Gavin and they have two teenage children.
